Kalaya - is shown here standing beside an F-16 fighter. This photo was taken at Nellis AFB Nevada in 1989. It was Kalaya's senior year and she was the first female ROTC cadet to earn the privilege of a ride in the fighter. She was also the commander of the ROTC unit at Rancho High School in Las Vegas. After graduation Kalaya went to the Air Force Academy. She stayed one year, then turned down her commission and went back to Nevada.

Kalaya - is shown here in one of her family's favorite photos. On September 7, 2003 Mercy Air will name the Pahrump Base in honor of the crew of N417MA. May God Bless Kalaya, her other crew members, and her family and friends.
