The latest and most advanced technology in emergency care has landed in the Capital Region. Albany Med Flight officials at the Albany Medical Center introduced today the new EC135 helicopter. Designed exclusively for emergency medical transport, this helicopter is now available to transport seriously ill or injured residents of northeastern N.Y. to Albany Med’s emergency department—the only Level 1 state-designated trauma center in the region. On October the 19th, 2005 in the interest of developing an attitude of continuing cooperation between the FAA, the air medical helicopter pilots in the State of Indiana, the Indianapolis Air Traffic Control Center (ATC), the Indiana Department of Transportation Aeronautics Section (INDOT) and the Indiana Association of Air Medical Services (INAAMS) a meeting was held to discuss a variety of comprehensive yet common operational, safety and industry issues specifically directed to air medical operations. Air Life of Oregon has selected the twin-engine EC-145 to replace its Bell 222UT helicopter. Air Life uses a single helicopter and three fixed-wing Pilatus PC-12s to provide central and northeastern Oregonians with reliable EMS assistance, “because these people usually live far away from health care services,” explains Air Life director Michael Greene. “If they sign up for an Air Life membership – its $50 a year – they can count on using our emergency service without paying any extra charges.” Wednesday, November 02 2005 @ 06:14 PM CST

Once the aircraft are delivered, this Pittsburgh, PA fleet operator will have over 40 EC-135s in its roster; making it the largest EC-135 operator in the world. Sikorsky Aircraft Corp., a subsidiary of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX), today announced an agreement to acquire Keystone Ranger Holdings, Inc., a privately owned U.S. company. Keystone specializes in full-service engineering, completion and technical support for commercial helicopters, and air medical flight operations.
